"Health centers are important anchors in their communities, and serve as economic engines," said Feygele Jacobs, DrPH, President and CEO of the RCHN Community Health Foundation. "Unless policymakers act now to restore the Community Health Center Fund, we are putting our communities at risk."

Legislation should be passed by both House and the Senate immediately. Bipartisan letter

  • The most likely vehicle for funding Health centers, CHIP and other programs now looks to be one of the upcoming “must-pass” Continuing Resolutions (CR) that Congress needs to pass in the coming weeks to keep the federal government funded.

  • We are expecting to see a CR this week to fund the government through December 22, this buys Congress additional time to negotiate on the many issues.

  • We would then expect another CR, before Dec. 22, funding the government through January (possibly alongside a separate defense spending bill).

  • In January, Congress will try to pass a larger omnibus spending bill to finish out the 2017-18 fiscal year.

  • Before the December 22 CR, Congress would take up all the many issues on the table including health centers and CHIPs.                       ~Community Clinic          Association of Los Angeles County
